This post is regarding leading messaging apps of the world - Whatsapp & Telegram.
The news " Facebook buying Whatsapp", and "4 hour blackout" on the next day these are the 2 reasons why users are actively started moving away from Whatsapp.
Whatsapp still has 450 million users, and 1 million new users adding daily.
Of all the users switching from Whatsapp, most of them are moving to Telegram, and for a good reason.
Similarities :
1). Same UI, conversation view.
2). Phone number as identification.
3). Chat with groups
4). Shared pics, audios, videos files.
Differences
1). Security : Telegram uses MTProto as communication protocol which is more secure than Whatsapp uses, and no data is stored between the communication.
2). Speed wise Telegram is better than Whatsapp.
3). Telegram has secret chat, its not there in Whatsapp.
4). Telegram is cloud based, while Whatsapp is not.
5). Telegram can be accessible from all type of devices (mobile, ipad, laptop), Whatsapp No.
6). Telegram can share unlimited number of photos, videos, and files - Whatsapp is limited.
7). Telegram Group chat can be done with 200 people while Whatsapp only 50.
8). Telegram is free and open source, Whatsapp is proprietary software.
